Chronicle

Chronicle, directed by Josh Trank is a film blog like movie, much like JJ Ahbrams Cloverfield, that chronicles (yeah, I went there) 3 high school boys who come across an un identifiable alien like starfish (no joke it looks like a star fish) that by touching it, gives them the ability to hone telekinetic powers.

This movie is pretty fresh and pretty cool. Dane DeHaan, probably best known from a re occurring roll in True Blood) gives a good performance as the angst filled loser of the school who is the antagonist of the film. Alex Russell fills in as Dane’s older, cooler cousin. And probably the most intriguing person in the film: Michael B. Jordan, who’s charisma and charm kind of inflate the movie until his character is removed from the movie. He also is known for his character in Friday Night Lights.

To be honest, I could see where the plot was going from the beginning, its pretty predictable. But none the less, you get caught up with these average people who, all of a sudden, can do really cool things with their mind, and you start wishing you could. Its not a thinker movie. Its just one of those journey movies.

I say go see this movie, and while in theaters because of premium sound. And if you rent, make sure you have a good sound system, otherwise I don’t think it will be as enjoyable.
